Living in California can only mean one thing, " best buys are ZAP...ZAP...ZAP always at Fry's Electronics^TM" NOT! Without a doubt Fry's has got to be the most ass-backwards place I have been to. Case in point, I needed to buy a replacement CPU fan for my old P90 motherboard. I went to Fry's and bought a good ball bearing unit which ran about $25. Now I go home and then discover that my P90 motherboard has Socket 5, not Socket 7...which OF COURSE is the only socket type the fan will attach to. This of course means I have to return the sucker...this usually would entail waiting forever in their return line but I am lucky that I went during a weekday. So I return the fan and start looking for a different replacement fan. Here is where Fry's inverse reality field comes into play. All the fans Fry's carry are either for Socket 7 Pentium boards, or for PPro's, or for 486's. Nada for a Socket 5 board. Finally, I end up looking for a fan to fit the heat sink's socket and I find two. Now both fans are the exact same thing, except one came with a heatsink for a 486. The fan & heatsink cost $9.95, whereas the fan by itself was $21.95! Go figure.

One thing I can say about Fry's is this, THEY SUCK. They blow great big monkey chunks. You can't even return software there if you have opened it, I mean, come on people how am I supposed to know if it is a good program, etc without OPENING the damn sucker and trying it out. You can return hardware there though (usually, there are exceptions) but frankly I just have gotten so sick of Fry's lame attitude towards returns that I pretty much avoid them like the plague if at all possible.

This last Friday (11/14/97) I actually witnessed something that is a warning of the impending destruction of the Universe, a Fry's employee who....gasp...knew what he was talking about! I was so stunned when I witnessed this phenomenon that I didn't look to check for the invisible wires controlling him.

It would appear as of late (1/20/98) this page seems to be getting hit semi-frequently from various folks around the west coast. I have decided to post peoples various feedback and opinions of this page and of Fry's Electronics in general. At some point I will convert this area into an automated forum where you will be able to post your thoughts and have it added to the pages automatically. Until then, I shall be posting links to peoples feedback here, in their unmodified form(unless there is personal information in the email). Some feedback I comment on, others just don't need any clarification in my opinion. Some post my not have feedback due to the fact I have not had time to formulate a proper replay due to my studies.
