Subject: Fry's Sucks!
Hey man, I totally agree with you about Fry's!!! What a sh!t hole! I have been shopping at Fry's for years, they are very complete (I will give them that much), how ever their customer service leaves something desired! Just last week, I spent over $1000 (yes that's the right number), and the service I received was marginal!!!! If that! However today I was absolutely disgusted! I went in to go and buy a SONY digital camera. This is not what you call a cheap item, running about $728.00 (after tax). I also was purchasing a zip drive, and some zip disk. At the counter the price was $983.87, not a trivial amount to the average silicon valley joe! I was given a company check to buy these items with (this is where the complications come in). Being that today (1-19-98) is Martin Luther King day, the banks were all closed, they could not verify the check. I asked them if there was any way in which we could get around this problem (foolishly thinking they would do more than normal to get such a large amount of money). As it turns out, they would not do a thing. They told me it was company policy, and there was nothing they could do about it! Mind you, this was not easy for me to take...I spent hours in traffic, much time trying to find a employee who spoke English!!! Much less one which could help me! And finally after getting all the right parts, only to be met at the counter (for a extraordinarily long wait, 30 min), and told that my check would not be accepted! Absurd!!!!! If I were running a business, and a customer wanted to spend $1000, I would do everything possible to make it happen!!!!! What is the worst case scenario for them! My company check is bad, and they loose $1000 worth of gear for a short period of time, until they get the items back, or the money is sorted out!!! Instead, they are sooooo greatly that they would rather loose my future business (totaling who knows how much). I then went to the manager (or at least the guy claiming to be a manager), and told him of my problem, and he told me the same thing, never once suggesting a method which would work (well, not entirely, he did ask for me to pay by credit card, and because this is a company matter, I was not about to do that) Totally ridicules if you ask me.
Now the next thing I would like to grip about is customer service. I have no doubt in my mind that Fry's has the worst customer service of any store I have ever walked into! First, the employees know NOTHING! or if they do, they will not tell you. Second, they can't speak English (at least at the fry's in Freemont CA), the store seems to be run by no English speaking, uneducated, Idiots! If you were to yell "!!" 20 people would run hiding!!! It's a joke! I refuse to shop at fry's ever again!!! They have lost a valuable customer as far as I am concerned!
